Dimitra Gelagoti, a licensed Architect from Greece, has been practicing in the United States for over 12 years. Her journey began in 2010 when she relocated to the U.S. to pursue her Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design at Columbia University. Following her studies, Dimitra gained invaluable experience working in New York for 3.5 years, honing her skills and expertise.

In pursuit of new challenges and opportunities, Dimitra made her way to Chicago, where she joined Studio Gang Architects. Here, she thrived in a dynamic and inspiring environment, contributing her talents to a myriad of remarkable projects. Among her achievements at Studio Gang, Dimitra played a pivotal role in leading and shaping extraordinary designs, exemplifying her passion and dedication to the field of architecture.

Dimitra's tenure at Studio Gang was marked by her involvement in numerous Institutional Projects, including Kresge College, California College of the Arts, AMNH, and the National Aquarium of Baltimore. It was this diverse array of experiences that ignited Dimitra's interest in institutionally focused work, prompting her desire to contribute to and manage the design and construction needs of such establishments. She currently assumed the role of Director of Design and Construction for the School of The Art Institute in Chicago. Her exposure to this environment has not only broadened her architectural expertise but also deepened her appreciation for the impact that thoughtful design can have within institutional settings.


A trouble-solver and critical thinker she finds architecture as the perfect world for her to explore the logical and the whimsical part of her interests. For her, there is no unimportant detail as there is no spatial puzzle that cannot be solved by good design.

She lives in Hyde Park, Chicago, with her husband and her 6-year old son. Her dream is to return to her roots in Greece, where the fragrance of lemon trees fills the air and the crystal-clear Mediterranean waters dazzle in myriad shades of blue.
